A company or individual licensed to do electrical installation, remodel, and/or maintenance. A contractor is usually licensed by a state or regional Registrar of Contractors, they pay an annual licensing fee, and have to obtain a bond and insurance. They also have to have a business license. Some contractors operate without a license, but in most areas this is illegal.
