A material which is very resistant to electrical flows. Typical insulators are rubber, plastics, ceramics and glass.
A material that blocks the flow of electrical current. ie, porcelain, bakelite, rubber etc.

In simple terms, it is a material such as plastic that will not let electricity flow through it.
