There are a number of metalloids in the Periodic Table, but the one that is arguably the most commonly found in use is silicon. It is the basis for modern semiconductors, and, therefore, modern electronic devices. You probably wouldn't be able to stand it if all the silicon in your life suddenly disappeared.
