How do you disassemble an intellimouse optical?
Remove the four slick pads on the bottom, to reveal screw holes (usually two, sometimes four) and clip holes (usually two, sometimes none). Undo the screws, unclip the clips, and the top will come off.
What is the best mouse for your PC?
This is a matter of preference. My personal favorite is the Microsoft intellimouse explorer. I like it because its optical, has a cord, and has 5 buttons. If i use the old windows98 software for it, i can reassign the buttons to emulate any keyboard key i like, which is a feature i find very useful. Some people prefer wireless mouses for the obvious benefits of cordlessness, i prefer a mouse which does not require batteries. Some people trackballs, i feel they reduce my accuracy & increase strain on my wrist & fingers. Its all a matter of personal preference.

The various kinds of computer mice are: Mechanical - These mice have a ball under them which sense movements, and it turns wheels inside which operate switches. These have been obsolete for some time. Optomechanical - These mice use a ball to turn slotted wheels inside which pass through photocells. They require a mouse pad to be able to move, and are more reliable than the purely mechanical mice. Optical - These mice use a laser LED and a camera chip inside and does not require a mouse pad to be able to move Wireless - These are optomechanical or optical mice that use infrared beams or radio waves to work without using a cord between it and the PC. They operate off of batteries and sometimes come with a docking station for charging them.
