I think you mean a minaret, which is a tall spire, either freestanding or attached to a mosque (Muslim place of worship). A person called a muezzin makes the call to prayer from the minaret.

There might be. Her son in his late teens or early 20's returned to Jamestown from England. After his mother died he was raised by his aunt. He returned to Jamestown, got married, and raised a family there. He had 6 children and the last reference about him is in his 90's when he signed over the land he inherited from his mother and grandfather to the city of Jamestown. I would imagine that a family tree could be traced from his children and from his father's side. It might be hard to find information on his mother's side.
