∙ 14y agoAn occupational psychologist is a person who applies their knowledge of psychology to the environment of 'work.' The occupational psychologist could analyze how a person's personality will affect the quality or quantity of his work in a certain job. Or, the occupational psychologist could analyze the psychological effects of a particular job or a field of work on the person or people who do that work. For example, studying the effects of shiftwork on an individual's mental health could fall into the realm of an occupational psycholgist's work.

There are those doctors who practice "Criminal Psychology" but to my knowledge there is no such occupational field as a "Crime Scene" Psychologist.

Educational requirements for the occupational psychologist include a master’s or doctoral degree, along with certification. Doctoral students are required to complete graduate study on a full-time basis for 5 years, which usually includes research and a dissertation. With a master’s degree you will be able to work as an occupational psychologist and those having doctoral degrees often work in private practice or clinical positions while others conduct research and teach. However, to work as an occupational psychologist you will be required to be licensed or certified in your state and each state and the District of Columbia has its own licensing requirements. The annual salary range for an occupational psychologist is from the high $40,000 to the low $80,000. Those who work with human resources and management consulting companies usually earn higher salaries than those working in government or education and if you have a doctoral degree you will earn more than the master’s level graduate.
