If you are good at soldering and the damage is at the keyboard end of the cable it should be possible to repair it, but not worth the hassle.

On a Mac simply open System Preferences and click Keyboard then the Keyboard Tab. Check the box next to "Show Keyboard & Character Viewer in menu bar. Now click the keyboard in the menu top right of desktop screen. Now click Show Keyboard and it will appear on your desktop.
