Non-vascular plants are those that do not have a system to transport water and nutrients from the roots to the stems; normally they rely on osmosis for this this function.

Due to this limitation the plants tend to be small, thin walled, grow in clusters and are often found in the close proximity to water.

An example is the moss plant
