An IPhone, or any rechargeable device, for that matter, should only be charged with the specific charger that was designed for it. This minimizes the risk of overcharging the batteries and damaging them.
the most common non rechargeable battery is alkaline batteries. the more expensive batteries contain more lithium. the lithium batteries last a lot longer. you can also buy heavy duty batteries. although it sounds like they should last longer..they don't. heavy duty batteries are actually a step down from alkaline.
Robots can be powered by a variety of sources, depending on their size, purpose, and mobility requirements. Common sources of power for robots include electricity from batteries or direct current (DC) power supplies, hydraulics using pressurized fluid, and pneumatics using compressed air or gas. Some robots may also use internal combustion engines or renewable energy sources such as solar power.
Depends on the battery but they are current sources as opposed to voltage sources Standard AA, AAA, C and D batteries all give 1.5 volts each, but rechargeable NiMH batteries are often 1.2 or 1.25 volts.

I would strongly suggest the use of rechargeable batteries over conventional batteries. Non rechargeable batteries could "explode" during recharging. Any rechargeable battery will work if they are the same voltage.
