Instead of "private," often when referring to information, you could use the words : confidential, secret, inside (r), reserved, closed, concealed, off limits, exclusive, personal, individual. You could also say something like, You are/n't privy to that kind of information. A private location could be described as sequestered, secluded, secret, separate, hidden.

Private, noun, is a person of the lowest rank in the military. A GI, soldier of sailor (without rank).
