um, all matter has mass and takes up some amount of "space", however trivial. Think of anything that you could potentially touch or hold, even a single atom could sit in your hand, though you might not be aware of it.

There are two catagories for stuff in the universe (that we have proof of), matter and energy. Things that are not matter must strictly be energy; electricity, light, EM radiation, gravity.

E=mc^2 shows this, energy = matter. There is nothing else (C is the speed of light, kind of like just saying "matter multiplied by a really big number").
