Solar wind,ejected from the sunspots are high-energy particles which interact with the earth's magnetic field to form VAN ALLEN radiation belts.These particle eventually move towords the earth's magnetic poles where they collide with molecules in the atmosphere and radiates energy in the form of coloured lights known as auroral lights.
