If it takes an object a certain amount of time to travel a certain distance, but it is travelling at different speeds at different times, you can treat it as though it was travelling at the same speed all the time, and then just divide distance by time to get speed (for example, in miles per hour).

When average velocity and average speed is equal?

For the instantaneous value of average velocity, average speed and average velocity are equal.

How is velocity different from average speeed?

Velocity is speed and its direction. Average velocity is average speed and its direction.

What is the relation of velocity to health and science?

Velocity is related to health in the sense that high velocity collisions are more damaging than low velocity collisions. Velocity is related to science in the sense that Newtonian mechanics deals with velocity.

When is the average velocity equal to average of velocity for an object?

Always.

Does average velocity and average speed have the same number?

velocity is a vector and speed is scalar. Velocity has magnitude and directions, with magnitude being speed. The magnitude of average velocity and average speed is the same.

What is the best definition of velocity?

The speed of something in a given direction.

Equation for calculating average velocity from displacement and time interval?

Average velocity can be calculated by dividing the displacement (change in position) by the time interval. The formula for average velocity is average velocity = (final position - initial position) / time interval.

What is the relationship between average velocity and instantaneous velocity?

The average velocity over an time interval is the average of the instantaneous velocities for all instants over that period. Conversely, as the time interval is reduced, the average velocity comes closer and closer to the instantaneous velocity.

What is instantaneous velocity of a body in terms of its average velocity?

The instantaneous velocity is the limit of the average velocity, as the time interval tends to zero. If you are not familiar with limits, basically you make the time interval very small and calculate the average velocity.

What is average velocity's definition?

Average Velocity is displacement over total time.
