From my own experience, with the same symptoms it's more than likely going to be the water pump. Bad news if you are taking it in for repairs, in KCMO it was going to run me around $700.00. Bad news also if you are going to repair it yourself. It's not impossible, I did it, But you will need to order a special puller for the Damper Pulley ( Harmonic Balancer) and remove everything from the radiator back to and including the timing belt cover. It is recommended that the timing belt be replaced at the same time. The water pump and oil pump are driven off of the timing belt. Just make sure you get the timing back in the correct place or you will have even more problems. I made it through with help from the Haynes auto repair Manual for my 1997 LHS. It took over a week, after I tried to remove the Damper Pulley with a regular puller and broke it , I had to invest $150 for a puller and special insert tool it also came with a Installer for the Crankshaft Damper (Harmonic Balancer to us Regular Guys) and $75 for a new Damper Pulley, around $50 for a new water pump and O-Ring, and around $40 for the Timing Belt. Also beware I broke a bolt trying to remove the water pump which had leaked and corroded it. I had to drill it out and buy a heli-coil kit and new bolt. I also invested in a new thermostat and gasket while I was at it and new Sepentine and AC Belts. All together it ran me around $500.00. I don't know if I will attempt it again, It was a boatload of work and a real back breaker since the whole car is a low riding sedan, being bent over at the baist for hours a day and a whole week really took its toll on the spine.
