An exotic bow tie?

Seriously, this is probably a misspelling of bauxite, which is an important ore from which aluminum is extracted. It was named after a southern French village, Les Baux, near where it was first discovered.

The bauxite is often found high near the surface, which makes it easy to mine. The bauxite is the processed to remove the aluminum, which is used in industry.
