The Alligator Snapping Turtle is often confused with the Common Snapping Turtle (C serpentina). No, there are many different types of turtles and tortoises all around the world. There are painted turtles, box turtles, alligator tortoises, Galapagos's tortoeses(largest turtles ever) and many many more.
Because the Chinese eat them. Me and my friend like turtles and I have two baby Alligator Snapping Turtles. I want to try and help save them, but I am not capable of telling people what to do. Hopefully someone will put a stop to people eating them. I hope this was helpful.

Both Snapping turtle species due to loss of habitat have been spreading there ranges down around the gulf of Mexico and into northern South America. I don't believe they have made it as far into the interior as the amazon as of yet but its only a matter of time. They are no strangers to the oceans and have been found over 100 miles out to sea. Being so adaptable only means their spreading is bound to happen.
