Many things are used for protection by witches. One in particular is our circle of protection which is "drawn" prior to spell casting, rituals, even meditation. Everything within the circle is considered sacred and nothing that would mean to cause harm may enter that circle. Now, that is not to say that if someone wanted to cause you physical harm could not hurt you at that point.

Other things that are used for protection are stones- such as smoky quartz, snowflake obsidian, Jade, etc.

Herbs- Angelica, dill, coriander, etc.

Talismans, amulets, witch bottles and mojo bags are also used.
