Cotton will work great for gardening if you don't deal with water.
Rubber glove, and petroleum jelly...

They are all usually the same. As long as it is metal, and has a soft rubber grip for your hands while gardening. If it is plastic or under $5.00 then i wouldn't recommend it... you get what you pay for!
