it is a promise done by people with god
Answer:
Simply stated... it's a promise... a vow... an "agreement."
The covenant relationship agreement made between the Eternal God of Israel [Jesus Christ, the WORD - John 1:3] and the children of Israel was "A MARRIAGE VOW" for Israel [God's affianced wife] to OBEY GOD's VOICE [obey her Husband]... and He would give her the world.
"Now therefore, IF YE WILL OBEY MY VOICE INDEED, and keep My covenant, then ye shall be a peculiar treasure unto Me above all people: for all the earth is Mine: and ye shall be unto Me a Kingdom of Priests, and an Holy Nation. These are the Words which thou shalt speak unto the children of Israel." (Ex.19:5-6)
"And all the people answered together, and said, All that the Lord hath spoken WE WILL DO..." (verse 8).
But the "wife of God" was unfaithful to her Husband and broke the vow.
"Surely as a wife treacherously departeth from her Husband, so have ye dealt treacherously with Me, O House of Israel, saith the Lord." (Jer.3:20)
"...My covenant they brake, although I was an Husband unto them, saith the Lord..." (Jer.31:32).
"For I spake not unto your fathers, nor commanded them in the day that I brought them out of the land of Egypt, concerning burnt offerings or sacrifices: but this thing commanded I them, saying, OBEY MY VOICE, and I will be your God, and ye shall be My people: and walk ye in all the ways that I have commanded you, THAT IT MAY BE WELL WITH YOU." (Jer.7:22-23)
That has always been the "covenant" in the biblical sense between God and His "elect" [the called-out-ones of God] -- a marriage vow; a Husband, wife and children - FAMILY - relationship.
"...we are the Children of God..." (Rom.8:16).
"...the husband is the head of the wife, even as Christ[the WORD; the ancient Creator God of the Old Testament - John 1:3] is the Head of the Church... for this cause shall a man leave his father and mother, and shall be joined unto his wife, and they two shall be one flesh. This is a great mystery: but I speak concerning CHRIST AND THE CHURCH." (Eph.5:23 & 31-32)
The "covenant" vow Jesus makes to His church is the same as the original one He proposed to ancient Israel... a familial one -- only made upon Eternal Spiritual promises, not material ones.
"...this is the covenant that I will make... after those days, saith the Lord [Jesus Christ]; I will put My Laws into their mind, and write them in their hearts... for ALL SHALL KNOW ME, from the least to the greatest." (Heb.8:10-11)
The "covenant vow" is one of Love and Obedience.
"Ye are My friends, if ye do whatsoever I command you." (John 15:14)
"These things I command you, that YE LOVE ONE ANOTHER." (verse 17)
"Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church, and gave Himself for it..." (Eph.5:25).
A covenant is a promise to take some action, or refrain from doing so. A typical covenant requires each party to make such a promise. However, in The Bible, God sometimes makes promises that don't require any action by humans - the promise not to destroy the world by water a second time, for example.
A covenant is a solemn or binding agreement either written or promised between two or more parties. God made a covenant, a promise that He will never again destroy the earth with a flood.
A covenant is a solemn agreement between at least two people.
