Check the fuses in your 97 Cavalier first. The dome light and the sunroof probably have a common power source.
Look in the back panel of the headliner ahead of the rear window where the manual crank of the sunroof is.
I believe they start at the rear corners of the sunroof and exit in/at the rear wheelwell areas. To check you can fill the sunroof chanels with water from a jug/hose and see/listen where they drain.
It's in the sunroof control housing. take of the plastic piece that says "top slider". It's in the sunroof control housing. take of the plastic piece that says "top slider".

In many vehicles with power sunroofs, there is a compartment in the roof that houses the motor. There could be a removable panel (pops out with a screwdriver) and inside a lever of hand cranking method to aid in closing the roof. I know for a fact that the later models of VW's have this and included the crank, too.
You should be able to remove the plastic covering for the interior lights just under the sunroof, there you will be able to manually close it,there should be a crank handle in the boot with your spare,if not you will have to get 1 from diy shop.
