• Is it near the time of your menstrual cycle's beginning or end? Brown discharge around the time of one's period is normal. Spotting or discharge like this may have something to do with the shedding of the ueteran wall (I believe). Check with your OBGYN if you have further concerns and if it happens frequently. Also, if you are sexually active, try looking up Gonorrhea and see if you have any other symptoms of it. It probably isn't this, but it is worth looking into just in case.

• You should go to a clinic to get tested for a yeast infection, and if you are sexually active get check for STD's. You could go to Planned Parenthood or any other clinic.

• If it happens at the beginning/end of your period it may be a sign of hormonal imbalance. Hormonal imbalances can sometimes be fixed with Birth Control pills.

• It is completely normal to find at the start/end of your period. It is either just a tiny bit of your period, or just the blood staining your normal discharge. If in doubt though ask a doctor.

This can be a sign of infection or the ending of a cycle. If you are irregular then that will explain the discoloration, however; if you are not, you seem to have a mild infection. Don't drink apple cider for a while and stay away from chocolates and junk food. This kind of diet gives the system a fright ALL the time and your body will be unpredictably unhealthy. Take care and it will be okay.

Brown discharge is usually just "old blood". The most likely cause is remnants of your uterine lining after your period. The vagina is a self cleaning organ, and will flush out any remaining tissue/blood that can be left after the lining of your uterus sheds each month. These are sometimes known as "light days", or "spotting".

However, if it persists or worsens, please see your doctor/gynecologist. They can do an examination to find the exact cause and treat you if necessary.

no you should get it checked out. that is not normal. unless its spotting from just starting/switching birth control pills. sometimes spotting can turn up brown (its the color of dried blood after all) and a lot of girls experience that on the pill, but if you aren't on the pill or if you aren't sure that's what it is, then you really should have that checked out.

I had a regular period last month. I had unprotected sex with my boyfriend on the day I went off my period (mostly off, still some pinkish discharge that day though) and I wouldn't completely consider it sex as we cleaned off the pre-ejaculate, he only stuck it in once, and he never ejaculated that night.

Just yesterday (about a week off of my period) I started to experience a somewhat heavy blood flow as though I were starting my period again. It started out red, then the remaining discharge was brown/black. I am still bleeding today, but not as heavily.

I am very irregular and my doctor has me scheduled to go on birth control next month because sometimes I get two periods a month, other times I skip months. Is it most likely that it is just hormones causing the menstruation to be funky or could it be implantation bleeding only a week after my period? I have not reached my normal ovulation date yet (but again, I'm irregular so it's hard to set an exact date for that but I can usually tell).

I have also been extremely stressed in that last week because of college finals. Thanks for any help!:)

Well I am a little worried with this my self it seems like everytime that I do have a period my blood is brown and it stays that way. Is that normal.
