the non officer ranks in the Canadian coast guard go from a 1 to a 7 in three departments logistics (std) engineroom (eng) and deck (ded) a one is an entry level position a 2 is an experienced hand a 3 is a lead hand a 4 and5 is a intermediate position specialist tech,carpentor,crane&winch operator and a 5 or a 6 is a supervisor I have never seen a level 7 so i don't know what position it is.
