Cataplexy is a neural condition that can cause a person to temporarily lose the use of their muscles. A cataplectic attack is often triggered by heightened emotions, and can affect small groups of muscles, larger groups, or sometimes the entire body (total collapse). Cataplexy is related to narcolepsy, is fairly rare, and can be treated with medication.
Cataplexy syndrome is when a person experiences sudden muscle weakness. This can cause uncontrollable laughing, crying, terror, and many other things.
Cataplexy is a rare disorder. Cataplexy occurs when a person can not control some or all of the muscles in their body. A person who has cataplexy may feel suddenly week, or their face may appear flat, or they may not be able to stand up all of a sudden. Vision may be blurred during an episode of cataplexy, or speech may slow.

There is no test for it. You'll just have to have witnesses and/or a video recording of yourself that you can show a neurologist. Many people with proven Narcolepsy, will also show signs of Cataplexy. However, Cataplexy without Narcolepsy has been reported. Though it is very rare. I have Cataplexy without Narcolepsy. The neurologist came in and slammed the door behind him to see if he could provoke an attack. It worked for me, but it may not work with others.
Cataplexy is a neuro-muscular condition. It is exemplified by a quick, sudden loss of muscle tone. This is transient in nature, and is triggered by emotions such as crying, laughing, etc.
cataplexy
Cataplexy is the first word I can think of here.
well my doctor prescibed me anti depressents. i was sposed to be able to get xyrem for it to though.
i have snapping hip syndrome because i have tight ITB which is the thigh mussel's. so i presumed i just had bad leg mussels and they go now and then but i then noticed i got it when i got angry or upset, E.G i seen someone fall in the street, i then got a dead leg. i researched this and found it could be CATAPLEXY = C , i also get the hole body shutting down with this though, but the majority its both legs, i had the legs going for about a year before the full cataplexy attacks tho so watch out and see if you can notice any emotions linking in with when you get the dead, legs...... hope it helped xx
The attacks can occur at any time but are often triggered by strong emotions, such as anger, joy, or surprise
