A slipping drive belt is one possibility.
why does my starter make a loud screeching noise when i start it?
most likely a loose or worn belt.
check your brake pads
The door lock actuator is going bad.
HELP THIS IS HAPPENING TO ME 2...something is causing the relay to go bad and this is causing the car to not start
it might be your starter.
I'd say what you've got is cats in the radiator. Hopefully it is just a loose belt. May be a bearing going out in something, AC, alternator.
Usually that noise is caused by a slipping serpentine belt. When you first start, the alternator is creating a lot of extra electrical power to recharge the battery. During that time the alternator is more difficult to turn and if the belt is even slightly loose or the tensioner is marginal, it will make that terrible noise.
There is no 'set' answer for this question. Be aware that there are built-in warning devices on the brakes. When the pads are low you will begin hear a screeching sound whenever you apply the brakes. When you start hearing that sound consistently - it is time.
You need to remove the serpentine belt, And then start engine and see if the noise goes away with the belt off. That will eliminate all the things that the belt runs. If your noise is still there with the belt off, then ask your question again saying that you have removed the belt and you have a high pitch screeching sound. Then wi'll see what we can do for you.
If your 2002 Ford Sport Trac is making a chirping noise when you do a cold start up, this could mean that you have a problem with the engine. You should have it looked at by a mechanic.
Defective starter bendix.
