Best Answer
1. PRIMING LOSS: This is the suction loss for a pump whose NPSH is (-ve)

2. CAVITATION: It is also suction loss by forming cavity of a volatile liquid whose NPSH(a) is belowNPSH(r) eg..Choking or blockage of suction strainers, closing of suction valve of apump when running.

3. VAPOUR LOCK: This is also loss of pumping due to blockage in discharge of a pump..closing of discharge valve and running for more time..running the pump with in adequate minimum flow..liquid above boiling point

Hence Cavitation, Vapour Lock and Primimng loss are different

What is difference between cavitation and supercavitation?

CAVITATION is the process of formation of vapour bubbles of flowing fluid in a region where the pressure of the liquid falls below its vapour pressure and the sudden collapsing of these vapour bubbles in region of high pressure. where SUPERCAVITATION IS THE CONTROLLED FORM OF CAVITATION WHICH HELP US TO attain more underwater speed

Is it true that the ultrasonic cleaner uses the process of cavitation for cleaning instruments?

yes

What is cavitation technology?

Hydrodynamic Cavitation can occur in any turbulent fluid. The turbulence produces an area of greatly reduced fluid pressure. The fluid vaporizes due to the low pressure, forming a cavity. At the edges of the cavity, small amounts of vapor break off. These form smaller cavities 100 nm to 3 mm in diameter. The smaller cavities implode under the high pressure surrounding them. This process of formation and collapse is called cavitation.

Wearing something down by friction is called?

Wearing something down by friction is known as erosion. It can also be caused by an abrasion, adhesion, cavitation, and vibration.

What is Mechanical Vibration in Fluid mechanism?

Mechanical Vibration caused by fluid effects are usually ... Cavitation, Turbulence and Blade Pass. Note that these are not mutually exclusive and are often signs of wear on a pump. If you have a vibration analyzer you can spot the problem easily in the FFT Spectrum as blade pass is the running speed x number of blades. The patterns for Cavitation and Turbulence can be found at vibronurse (www.vibronurse.com) .... sorry I can't paste them in here!!! If you select the Vib Analysis guide and then the Vibrary and then select Hydraulic and Aerodynamic forces you will see the spectra.

What is a cavitation plate on a boat?

A cavitation plate is the adjustable metal plate that runs along the bottom of the transom on a V-drive. Some people call the flat metal plate on an outboard or outdrive a cavitation plate but the correct name is anti ventilation plate and cavitation and ventillation are not the same. It is similar in function to Trim Tabs. A cavitation plate is used to adjust the trim of a V-Drive and keep the nose on the water. Here is a link to a picture on PerformanceBoats dot com In this picture of a V-drive, the cavitation plate is anodized red.

How cavitation can be eleminated in a pump?

cavitation is caused when vapour pressure in the fluid in higher equal to the surrronding presure. in the case of centrifugal pump, when the hydraulic pressure (due to height) in the fluid falls below the vapour pressure of the fluid itself, cavitation wil occur.

What is priming input?

A priming input, also known as priming read, is the statement that reads the first input data record prior to starting a structured loop.

What does looked to their priming mean?

The phrase "looked to their priming" in The Highwayman means that the soldiers were preparing to fire their weapons. Priming was arming the weapon to fire it against an enemy.?æ

Are rotary pumps self-priming and if not how do I prime it?

Some rotary pumps are self-priming when dry. These pumps have a priming chamber that automatically does the self-priming when the pump is not in use. To prime a pump yourself, the priming plug should be removed. Water should then be poured into the pump. The entire priming process should take no longer than five minutes. If it takes longer than that, it could be indicative of a mechanical problem.

The priming handle is simply the handle which you use to reload.

What is ejector's cavitation?

due to pressure loss or sudden change in area the vaccum bubbles formed along with the inner surface of an ejector. it is known as ejectors cavitation.
