Organisms that feed off chemicals, and digest chemicals in order to get their nutrients to live. Like we need food and water to survive.

All known living things are either chemotrophs or phototrophs.

Some chemotrophs live at the bottom of the ocean, eating energy-rich compounds that come out of the earth at hot hydrothermal vents and at cold seeps.

One Example is: a Box Turtle

What do chemotrophic bacteria use to get energy?

Chemotrophic bacteria use chemicals such as hydrogen sulfide, ammonia, or iron as a source of energy for their metabolism. They oxidize these compounds to produce the energy needed for their survival and growth.

What term describes how a person gets energy?

Metabolism is the term that describes how a person gets energy from the food they consume. It is the process by which the body converts food into energy that can be used for various bodily functions.

Is clostridium perfringens autotrophic heterotrophic or chemotrophic?

Clostridium perfringens is a heterotrophic bacterium, meaning it obtains carbon and energy by consuming organic compounds from its environment. It does not produce its own food through processes like photosynthesis or chemosynthesis.

Whar are the types of bacteria?

There can be various types of classification of bacteria. They are 1. Aerobic / Anaerobic 2. Gram Postive/ Gram negative 3. Autotrophic/ Heterotrophic/ Chemotrophic/ Lithotrophs 4. Also classified as verious Phyla like flavobacteria, spirochetes, brevibacteria, Archebacteria, Fusobacteria etc.

What organism makes its own food and sunlight?

Plants make their own food in the presence of sunlight. Note: Nothing makes sunlight except the sun. Sunlight enables plants to conduct photosynthesis which produces food and energy for the plant.

Which term describes how a person gets energy?

A person gets energy through the process of metabolism, where the body converts food into energy that can be used for various functions such as movement, growth, and repair. This energy is stored in molecules like glucose and ATP, which are then broken down to release energy when needed.

Is archaea heterotroph or autotroph?

Archaea can be heterotrophs, autotrophs, or even mixotrophs. Some archaea are known to use organic compounds as a source of energy and carbon, while others can produce their own energy through processes like chemosynthesis or photosynthesis.

They are Autotrophs.

What are the 3 terms for ways that bacteria can get their energy or food?

Bacteria can obtain their energy or food through three primary methods: autotrophy, heterotrophy, and chemotrophy. Autotrophic bacteria produce their own food using inorganic substances, typically through photosynthesis or chemosynthesis. Heterotrophic bacteria, on the other hand, rely on organic compounds from other organisms for their energy. Chemotrophic bacteria derive energy from chemical reactions, often utilizing inorganic molecules.
