Jesus gave a commission to the church in Matthew Chapter 28 when he said " Go ye therefore into all the world and preach the gospel, teaching them all things whatsoever I have commanded you, baptizing in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Ghost". This is the work of the church. In the 12th chapter of Ecclesiastes one reads, " Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter. Fear God and keep his commandments, for this is the whole duty of man".

There are many tasks that a missionary can be involved in. Some like members of Interserve go and live long term in another nation with the goal of making Jesus known. Others like members of Wycliffe translate The Bible into other languages. Others like members of Global Recordings Network produce audio recordings for those that don't yet have a bible or don't read.

There are all types of career options for a missionary. They don't need to be evangelists, but can work in a range of jobs like Accountants and computer programmers. They all make a tremendous difference in making Jesus known.
