Semen is a cloudy, milky white, although there can be some variation. So it could be slightly off-white, slightly yellow, or a murky, grayish white. It may sometimes be clear.
It is usually white. There may be some ethnic variation which may make it slightly off-white, since there might be some shed skin cells in with it. If it is yellow, greenish, pinkish, or has dark clumps in it, see a doctor.
You can't see the sperm (semen is the fluid that contains the sperm), as they are far too small to see without a microscope.
Also, about a spoonful is normal per ejaculation.
Semen is made up mostly of zinc. So in similar concentrations, semen is the same color. However, semen exists in a fluid which can become thinned. Depending on how thin the mix is, it can go from pure white to milky gray, to almost water clear.

Fertility is related to the amount of semen and not to its colour on a ejaculation. Less than 3.5 ml indicates an unfertile male.
Most semen is white in colour, but grey or even yellowish semen can be normal as well. Blood in the semen can cause a pink or reddish colour, known as hematospermia, and may indicate a medical problem which should be evaluated by a doctor if it does not readily disappear.[3] After ejaculation, semen first goes through a clotting process and then becomes more liquid. It is postulated that the initial clotting helps keep the semen in the vaginal canal, but liquefaction frees the sperm to make their long journey to the ova. Immediately after ejaculation semen is typically a sticky, jelly-like liquid often forming globules. Within 5 to 40 minutes it will become more watery and liquid before finally drying.[4]
You may have some blood in your semen to cause this colour. It can be from a bleed somewhere in the urethra or further back from the prostate. If it is still there next time make an appointment with your doctor for further investigation.
