Best Answer

Because that is what a capacitor used to be called - a condenser.

Answer

Used in this context, the word 'condenser' is derived from the Latin for 'to make smaller'. Early capacitors, such as the Leyden Jar, were able to store separated electric charge in a much smaller volume than methods hitherto used. So early capacitors were called 'condensers'. In France and Germany the older term remains in use.

In older time it was called condenser for no specific reasons. Condenser can be a capacitor also condenser can be devices to condense gaz to liquid.

Capacitor is made of two conductors separated by an insulating dielectric.

Stores electrical charge, Current does not flow through it but useful in controlling the flow of an electric current.

Is there a condenser on HEI ignition systems?

Yes there is a condenser on HEI systems with large cap with coil-in-cap. It may seem counterintuitive but yes there is. Follow along. A "condenser" is simply a capacitor. HEI do have a capacitor/condenser within harness and it's adjacent to plug that attaches to ignition control module (beneath rotor). The HEI condenser/capacitor is employed to suppress "radio noise". OE GM HEI have a round condenser while many aftermarket HEI have a squarish-flat condenser. A replacement for OE round HEI condenser is supplied by Standard Motor Products (aka Standard Ignition) as part number RC-3.

Why condenser used in tube light?

A tube light uses a condenser which is the old term for a capacitor. It functions as a small battery in a circuit.

What causes high head pressure in an air cooled condenser?

It is due to pressure rising due to a bad condenser fan motor, bad capacitor, obstructing of airflowat the condenser, or a dirty condnser.

Why does a static condenser differ from synchronous condenser?

Unlike a static condenser (capacitor bank), the value of reactive power from a synchronous condenser can be continuously adjusted. A synchronous condenser also has other advantages over static condensers such as: - not being affecting by harmonics (some harmonics can even be absorbed by a synch condenser) - producing no switching transients
