Released in November 1971, "Computer Space" is regarded as the first commercially available video game. Although it was an Arcade game, it was a breakthrough for video game production. There were two games that could be considered the "first" games ever made. There was Pong, which was designed to be the first distributable game. Very simple, two paddles on the left and right side of the screen can move up and down, and bounce a ball across. Like Ping-Pong. However, the very first game ever made was a missile defense-type game, made in the late 40's. However, the computer it was ran on was designed for lab work, and the game itself was more of an experiment. Other early games include Chess, Tic-Tac-Toe or even a PvP Asteroids-like space shooter called SpaceWar! that was actually ahead of its time.
