The user interface of the Start Menu lists frequently used programs which changes the more you use your computer, and a list of commonly used programs that affords you an easy path to open most any program on your computer. A link to 'all programs' and a search box are also available.
Each entry is considered a menu item.

move the item on your screen out of the way so you will be able to see it when you click on start. then drag it onto the start menu
To add a program to the start up menu, simply select and drag the item. Usually, an option to pin the item to the start up menu is presented upon uploading.
The little black triangle to the right of a menu item indicates that there is a sub-menu of items for that menu item; if you hover over the menu item or click on it the sub-menu should pop-out to the side of the menu.

The left hand pane of your start menu contains pinned items above the separator and frequently used items below it. If you want an item to appear on the menu all the time, you will have to pin it.

Go in the "Pokémon" menu (After pressing START), if a pokémon is holding an item, it will have a little yellow and red thing next to its sprite.

Menu item is not working with time
The convention is that ellipses following a menu item usually means that the menu item will open a dialog box with further choices, rather than immediately carrying out an action.
