Cotton-poly fabric is made combining strands of cotton and polyester. This blend is usually quite comfortable because it combines the natural effects of cotton for softness and moisture absorption with the no-iron crispness of polyester. Usually, whichever fiber content is listed first is the dominant fiber, meaning in a cotton poly mixture that is 51% cotton and 49% polyester cotton would be listed first.
A standard everyday poly cotton mix is 65% Polyester 35% cotton, normally the contruction of standard bedsheets, bedlinen etc
You probably are asking about fabric that is made of a blend of cotton and polyester fibers. This is a very common blend, for example a lot of button-front shirts for men and women are made of 60%/40% (either one being the larger percentage) of this combination. It tends to be more comfortable and "breathes" better than 100% polyester, and is less wrinkly and more colorfast than 100% cotton.
Polyester:
-Durability
-Resilience
-light weight
-resistance to dyes, solvents and most chemicals
-stain resistant
-Resists stretching and shrinking
-Quick drying
-Wrinkle, mildew and abrasion resistance
-creases easy to launder
Cotton:
-Soft
-Absorbs body moisture
-comfortable
-strong
-durable
-versatile
-Performs well
-Good colour retention
-easy to print on
- Easy to care for (particularly, wash)
- Natural resource and fully renewable
I am a quilter and I will only use 100% cotton in my cotton quilts. I can usually tell when I iron the fabric if it is cotton or polycotton. Cotton has virtually no smell when ironed or at least a very natural smell. Polycotton has a very strong chemical smell.

poly and cotton
Many modern quilters think that poly cotton fabrics are suitable for quilting because they do not shrink as 100% cotton does, it launders very well, does not wrinkle, and is easy to work with. Many other quilters think that poly cotton fabrics are UNsuitable because they do not accept stitching in the same way as 100% cotton fabrics: thread tends to lie on the surface of poly cotton instead of sinking into a soft ditch. Some quilters do not like poly cotton's too-smooth texture, preferring the softly crinkled affect produced when 100% cotton is slightly shrunken.

There are many different fabrics one might use for a bedroom bench. One of the most popular choices of fabric among consumers is cotton or poly-blend fabrics.
"Poly cotton" is a term for a blend of polyester and cotton. The physical properties depend on both the ratio of polyester to cotton and on the particular polyester used. A standard poly cotton fabric would have 65% Polyester 35% cotton, with a 68 pique thread count However a 50% polyester 50% Cotton is also normal this starts to go in percale finish, and a higher thread count, the higher the thread count and cotton content the better the fabric finish
how to differenciate poly cotton and poly viscose
Polyester-cotton blends require less care, but they do require more care than most pure cotton or polyester fabrics. Cotton-polyester blends resist fading and can be washed at higher temperatures.Easy care, warm wash, gentle iron. The easy care properties associated with polyester overcome the difficulties that can be attributed to cotton. As with many properties the overall performance will depend on the blend ratio. With the higher polyester concentrations the care becomes easier. High temperature laundering can be undertaken if required.
