there are plates that move in the earth
Fault lines are simply where cracks appear in the earth's crust from the movement of the plates.
Trenches if they are in zones of subduction. Falt lines are in areas of shifting plates (rubbing against or parallel)
The entire crust (or outer layer) of the planet Earth is composed of plates, and the movements of those plates are described by the science of plate tectonics.
plates
Divergent boundaries, convergent boundaries, and transform boundaries are all cracks in the Earth's crust. They are located where the Earth's plates border one another.
Tectonic plates.

The crust
cracks in the plates which make up the crust. the earths crust is not connected. its made up of plates that moves and they are formed by plates pushing together then collapsing. they erupt when it gets a lot of friction from the plates pushing together
The Earth's crust is made of plates which float on the Earth's mantle. They are located on the entire planetary surface. Even oceans lie on top of plates.
Because, the molten material that moves into the fissures and cracks between diverging plates is no thicker than the existing plates. The plate will then probably be destroyed at the other end, due to a convergent boundary :)

Cracks in the Earth's crust are faults.
The are both related to the movement of tectonic plates.
