Ferrets are carnivores and so should only be fed raw meat, eggs and special ferret pet food. Cat/ kitten or dog / puppy foods are not suitable as they contain too much plant matter. Ferrets are unable to digest fruit and vegetables and eating these can cause stomach problems or in more severe cases intestinal blockages. Foods which are high in sugar should also be avoided as ferrets can develop Diabetes. Another thing to avoid is dairy. Dairy products are known to cause stomach upsets such as vomiting and diarrhea when eaten by ferrets.
