Water reaches its maximum density at 4ºC, at which point it is still liquid. At that temperature its density is 1 gram per cubic centimeter. At room temperature, the density drops very slightly to about .998 g/cm3.

Water has a density of 1.00g cm-1. This means that one litre (1dm3) weighs 1kg. The density of water is therefore 1g per ml.
Knowing this and that the relative formula mass of water is 18, we can show that pure water has a concentration of 555/9 mol dm-3.

At 100oC it is 0.9584 g/ml

At 20oC it is 0.99821 g/ml

At 4 oC it is 0.99997 g/ml (max!)

At 0 oC it is 0.99984 g/ml
