There are both fundamental differences, and relationships between these two gives. Stainless steel is an iron based metal alloy. Teflon is a trademarked synthetic chemical used as a nonstick and lubricating coating, often on metal surfaces.
The difference between the two is PTFE stands for Poly Tetra Fluoro Ethylene, which is DuPont's Teflon. TFE is Tetra Fluoro Ethylene, which is an odorless, tasteless gas and is deadly.
- Teflon is very resistant to other chemicals - Teflon is a good electrical insulator - Teflon is thermo-resistant - Teflon has a very low coefficient of friction - Teflon is a non-stick material used for coatings - Teflon is a thermoplastic material
Covalent bond
Density of POLYTETRAFLUOROETHYLENE (TEFLON):The density of Teflon is 2200 kg/m3.
PTFE stands for polytetrafluoroethylene. Teflon is the registered trade mark for this, and is owned by DuPont.
There are a few differences between Swiss Diamond Cookware and Teflon. The main difference is Swiss Diamond Cookware is claimed to be made from synthetic diamonds whilst Teflon is made of ammonium perfluorooctanoate or polytetrafluoroethylene.
A teflon capacitor uses teflon as the dielectric, or insulator, between plates.

There are experimental materials with lower coefficient of friction than teflon, but teflon is quite easy to get ahold off in various forms. The difference between teflon on teflon or teflon on steel is negligible, so I think your best bet is to find a steel slide and use teflon coated pants to ride it. Teflon can be bought on the roll as thick plastic sheets or as a spray on; I'm not sure either is suitable for this. Teflon can also be bought in the form of cloth, which sounds a whole lot easier to affix to a pair of existing pants, but I don't know if it would have the same low coefficient of friction.
