A folder holds a set of files ----- in IT a file (like a .doc document) holds user data, while a folder is a place where a number of files can be grouped for convenience (like 'my documents'). Folders can also hold other folders making the whole storage structure a tree.

All the data on your hard drive consists of files and folders. The basic difference between the two is that files store data, while folders store files and other folders. The folders, often referred to as directories, are used to organize files on your computer. The folders themselves take up virtually no space on the hard drive. Files, on the other hand, can range from a few bytes to several gigabytes. They can be documents, programs, libraries, and other compilations of data.
A file is an archive such as documents, videos, pictures. All your files of pictures can be saved in a folder which you may give a name such as My pictures.
You can store all your folders containing files on a special pathway called Documents, Images, Musics, Games. Files and Folders can be moved or copied to another directory or to another Folder. The best way to learn about Files and Folders is to consult Windows' Help and Suppor as well as any other subject.
There is a big difference between a file share and a folder. A folder is simply a directory where files, data, and other folders can be stored. Folders usually reside on your computer, and are not accessible on other networks.
A file share, however, is a folder that can be accessed by other computers on a network, if permission is granted. Basically, its just a folder accessible to other computers, assuming permission is allowed.
Think of the file hierarchy as a tree. The entire file system is the trunk of the tree, the folders are the branches of the tree, the subfolders are the numerous other branches connected to the parent branch, and the individual programs and files inside the subfolder are the leaves.
folder like a directory of any OS which can contain either a file(which have actual content) or a another directory
Folder or directory is a container for files and (other) folders.
A file is a piece of information that contains data. Folder technically is a "category" of files, to mark files and other folders that belong together. It does not contain data.
folder consist of more than 1 file
what is the differences between a file and a folder
A nested file means that the file is under a few different folders, for example if you have a file called readme.txt it could be under the text folder which is under the programs folder. It just means that the file is nested underneath a few different folder layers.
The sub folder is a folder inside the file folder. For example... The "Sample Pictures" folder is a sub folder to the "My Pictures" folder. It's pretty straight forward and simple...so hope that helps?
no difference! (ddduuuhhh!), unless it a online file
Imagine the workbook to be a physical file/folder and the worksheet is a single page within this file/folder.
If you mean in computers then Folders contain files and nothing else. There may be many files in tne folder. The files contain information. Generally you would put similar files in one folder so that you can find them easily according to the subject matter.
On a Mac right click on the file/folder and select Compress file/folder name from the menu that appears. This will create a zip file called file/folder name.zip

You cannot convert a file into a folder!
You can't turn a folder into a file. You can, however, make a folder look like a file by changing its icon (for instance, to the icon for a text document or Excel spreadsheet). You could also delete or move a folder and make a file with the same name, which might make it look like it had been turned into a file.
