Although a violin does turn on and off, it constantly gives out information without turning on and off and it gradually goes between loud and soft. In a car, your speedometer is analog. Your headlights are digital. (They are either on or off) At one time they were transmitted differently. Analog data was sent by changing the height or frequency of a electronic sigh wave. Today, both are sent by a series of ones and zeroes. Then a receiver changes them back to analog or digital.
