An oval is used for an endpoint (Start/End/Return). A circle is used as a connector, for instance, if you get to a point where to want to run a subroutine, put a circle connector with a label (a letter, for instance). At the beginning of that subroutine, start it with the same lettered circle connector.
The line stands for "on" and the circle stands for "off".

18kt g.e means gold electroplate...not worth a whole lot. the symbol is of interest. look at it more closely. are you sure it is an A inside a circle and not a masonic freemason symbol? the freemason symbol, if small can look like an A and the circle is actually a blue lodge order symbol sometimes used in conjunction with the base freemason symbol. some of the older masonic rings were made of cheaper materials. is there any ornamentation on the top or sides of the ring?
that symbol means trademark
