Air-conditioning is a process that simultaneously conditions air; distributes it combined with the outdoor

air to the conditioned space; and at the same time controls and maintains the required space's temperature,

humidity, air movement, air cleanliness, sound level, and pressure differential within predetermined

limits for the health and comfort of the occupants, for product processing, or both.

Refrigeration is the cooling effect of the process of extracting heat from a lower temperature heat source,

a substance or cooling medium, and transferring it to a higher temperature heat sink, probably atmospheric

air and surface water, to maintain the temperature of the heat source below that of the surroundings.

really not much.. principals are the same but the only thing is that when your lines in central air freeze up it usually means its low on refrigerant.. when lines freeze up on refrigerators and freezers it means there's too much refrigerant in the system..

What is geothermal air conditioning?

Geothermal air conditioning is a central cooling system that delivers cool air by pumping heat towards the ground. The difference between it, and an Air Conditioner, is that while an Air Conditioner uses a refrigeration cycle to de-humidify a room, a geothermal air conditioner takes advantage of the ground itself as a heat sink to pump the heat away from a home and into the ground.

Is a refridgeration compessor anything like an air conditioner?

Actually a refrigeration compressor is a component of an air conditioner. The refrigerant used in an air conditioner is called Freon. The compressor in an air conditioner evacuates the evaporator providing cooling to the air.

How does an air conditioning unit remove heat?

To really understand how air conditioner removes heat? You have to know thermodynamics second law: " heat always flows from a material at a high temperature to a material at a low temperature." There're so much to it! AC condenser unit is the components that removes the heat in air conditioner. You also have to understand the other AC four basic components to know how and why it removes heat. What is the difference between HVAC and refrigeration?

'HVAC' is Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning, i.e. linked basic mechanical building services. Refrigeration is a process which is just a part of one of those.

What is the difference between a normal and split air conditioner?

A normal air conditioner is a fan which has rotating wings that make the air move. The whole fan is uncovered. A split air conditioner on the contrary is almost fully covered, except of a split (for example at the bottom) that constantly emits cool air.
