A laser printer is a printer, with similar results to an inkjet printer, however it uses laser toner, which is a powder. This is a more professional unit, more often offering fax and copy functions as well. It also produces better results for an office, looking to print documents.
Laser printers work by placing toner, a mixture of ink, rust and plastic, onto the paper and then fusing it with heat to the paper. It will give a slightly raised affect to the characters. It is crisper then an inkjet printer and will not fade or bleed over time. It may react with other plastics and 'stick' to binders and protective sleeves.
Inkjet printers literally spray ink onto the paper. It can bleed and feather if the moisture content on the paper is too high and can run if it gets wet. They also tend to fade when exposed to light for long periods of time.
