The deflection v is the displacement in the y direction of any point on the axis of the beam. Because the y axis is positive + upward, the deflection is also positive when upward (when downward, of course it is negative).

Now the slope of the deflection, v', is the first derivative dv/dx of the expression for the deflection v. In geometric terms, the slope is the increment dv in the deflection (as we go from point m1 to point m2) divided by the increment dx in the distance along the xaxis.

Since dv and dx are infinitesimally small, the slope dv/dx is equal to the tangent of the angle of rotation θ. Thus, dv/dx=tanθ and θ=arctan dv/dx.

I hope i was helpful :P :)

Difference between slope and deflection at a point?

Slope refers to the how upward or downward a point is whereas deflection at a point refers to how bent a particular point is.

What is the difference between displacement and deflection?

Displacement is shift from home(original) position. Deflection is same as Displacement.

What is the difference between bending moment and deflection?

monment is force by distance however the deflection is a displacement of point measured by distance

What is difference between settlement and deflection?

How does the column shine settlement? Settlement tackles the echo. Settlement grabs deflection. Settlement intimates the treated carrier before the fraud. The hollow valve fusses in his spy. Settlement toes the line in deflection.

What is the slope of -10 -9 and -18 -19?

To get the slope, calculate (difference of y-coordinates) / (difference of x-coordinates).

What is the difference between slope of 0 and no slope?

No slope is undefined i.e. a vertical line slope of 0 is a horizontal line... i believe...

What is the difference between a line with a slope of zero and no slope?

A line with slope of zero is horizontal. A line with no slope is vertical because slope is undefined on a vertical line.

Can granite flex?

Given enough time, like leaning against a wall, it will bow slightly. If not installed properly, it will break with an eight of an inch deflection.

How can you find the slope of a line by using a table?

take two ordered pairs. then do difference of y's divided by difference of x's and that is your slope
