The doc-view architecture is a Micro$oft way of separating how and where a programs data ( objects ) are stored and how they are viewed.... I think it's only in MFC but I'm not certain. check out http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/4x1xy43a(VS.80).aspx for more detailed and accurate info
