A documentary is usually a television programme about some subject. A biography is a study of an individual or group by another person. Compare with an autobiography - written by a person about themselves. A documentary biography is a study about a person.
In order to make a documentary, one needs to study the subject and make a detailed account of the subject's activities. Most documentaries are made for educational purposes and are filmed.
