In the Aviation industry, a drop test is where an aircraft if dropped from a height to simulate a crash. This is done either to test the structure of the aircaft or the internal structure such as crash absorbsumption seats. Some drop test are actually dropped using a cable that makes the aircraft swing in at a required crash angle. Drop tests are also a simple way to test if an applicance will survive someone dropping it on the floor. This test could be performed on cell phones or hair dryers or kitchen applicances.
