Ebano is an Italian equivalent of 'ebony'. It's a masculine noun whose definite article is 'il',* and whose indefinite article is 'uno' ['a, one']. It's pronounced 'EH-bah-noh'.

*The article drops the initial 'i' and becomes just 'l', because the noun begins with a vowel. The temporary drop is indicated by an apostrophe: 'l'ebano'. But the article goes back to being 'il' when there's an adjective such as 'bello' ['beautiful, handsome'] between it and the noun.
