Best Answer

Current passed through a coil of wire (winding inside the motor) creates a magnetic field. In a properly designed motor, this field will be attracted to, or repelled from, another magnetic field also created in the motor. The attraction or repulsion is a force, and in a motor the force is directed to cause rotary motion -- hence, torque.

This is because the windings of the rotating part of the motor will create fields in opposition to the windings in the stationary part of the motor -- similar to the way north and south poles on a bar magnet attract each other while 2 norths or 2 souths repel each other.

What is the difference between electromagnetic torque and load torque in electrical machines?

Electromagnetic torque and load torque are different.Electromagnetic torque is the torque that is produced inside the machine which makes the machine rotate, while load torque is the torque that is applied externally with brake drum and and spring balance.Electromagnetic torque can be varied by varying the speed of the machine, but load torque is fixed.

What is induction motor?

Induction motor is an AC electric motor which uses electromagnetic induction to induce the electric current in the rotor to produce torque.

Why electromagnetic torque opposes prime mover torque in dc generator?

It's a practical example of the conservation of energy, and is explained by Lenz's Law. The direction of the load current is such that its magnetic field will create a force acting in the opposite direction to the force causing the conductor to move in the first place.

What is the explanation for the mechanism of DC in pmmc?

a pmmc has a coil suspended in permanent magnetic field.acording to the laws of electromagnetism a current carrying coil susspended in a magnetic field experiences an electromagnetic torque. This torque is counterbalanced by the mechanical torque devoloped in the coil in equlibrium. The angle teta can be measured and it is calibrated to directly give the current

What is the electromagnetic specturm?

The electromagnetic spectrum is the range of all possible frequencies of electromagnetic radiation.[1] The "electromagnetic spectrum" of an object is the characteristic distribution of electromagnetic radiation emitted or absorbed by that particular object.
