It depends on where the fracture is exactly and if the bones are displaced, meaning they''ve moved out of normal positioning when they were fractured. For certain pelvic fractures where the bones are not in correct placement and need to be brought back together and held in place, pins and an external fixator is sometimes used. This is metal hardware that is outside the body but holds pins in place that secure the bones. Most often there is no kind of surgical procedure to repair a pelvic fracture, it's allowed to heal on it's own when the ends of the fractured bone are still in place. It's painful but the pain isn't usually intolerable and gets better fairly quickly.
Bed rest and over-the-counter (OTC) or prescription pain killers. Physical therapy, the use of crutches, and surgery may also be recommended.
After a serious accident or high fall, emergency assistance should be called. The injured person should be covered with a blanket (to maintain body heat) and not be moved.
only bed rest at six weeks

A stable fracture is one in which the pelvis remains stable and involves one break-point in the pelvic ring with minimal hemorrhage.
Fractures-Fracture guidelines have also been added. Traumatic fractures are coded as acute fractures with codes from categories 800-829 while the patient is receiving active treatment for the fracture. Examples of active treatment are: surgical treatment, emergency department encounter and evaluation and treatment by a new physician.
