Potential Energy
Potential energy is the stored energy that results from an object's position or shape. It is energy that is not actively doing work but has the potential to do so in the future.
Potential energy.
Energy stored as a change in shape
Elastic potential energy is stored in a stretched string, which is the energy stored in an object when it is deformed (such as being stretched) and can be released when the object returns to its original shape.
Potential energy is the energy stored as a result of position or shape. It is the energy that an object has due to its position relative to other objects or its internal configuration. Examples include gravitational potential energy and elastic potential energy.
Elastic potential energy is the kind of energy stored in stretched or squashed things. This energy is stored when an object is deformed and can be released when the object returns to its original shape.
Mechanical energy is stored in objects through their positions or motion. Potential energy is stored in an object's position or shape, while kinetic energy is stored in an object's motion. When an external force acts on the object, this stored mechanical energy can be released and converted into other forms of energy.
Kinetic energy from an object's motion. Potential energy stored in an object's position or shape. Elastic energy stored in a deformed object that can return to its original shape. Gravitational energy associated with an object's position in a gravitational field.
Potential energy is stored energy that results from the position or shape of an object.
It is called potential energy.
Energy stored in rocks as a change in shape is known as elastic potential energy. When stress is applied to the rock, it deforms and stores potential energy until it is released, causing the rock to return to its original shape. This energy can be released suddenly, resulting in events like earthquakes.
When you squeeze a mattress, the energy stored is potential energy. This potential energy is stored in the compressed springs and elastic materials of the mattress. When you release the squeeze, the stored potential energy is converted back to kinetic energy as the mattress regains its original shape.
