It depends. A child that is homeschooled generally gains the ability to learn independantly and can do very well academically. However, a good teacher can promote learning and help a child who is having difficulty. Therefore a child that is not very good at independent learner will do better in the public school system.Another problem is bias, if there is a bias in the home schooling, such as literal teachings of the bible, a child may not have a proper understanding of issues such as evolution, stem cells and other scientific background. This could be harmfull academically if a certain level of science knowledge is required for their degree.So, with a proper balance of knowledge and a independent learning student, they can thrive with homeschooling, but if they need guidance and direction, public school may be the place.
